Caring for bleached hair

After bleaching, hair needs the right sequence rather than more products. Bleached lengths tend to become dry, porous and rough, tangle and frizz more easily — they need richer, regular and predictable care.

What changes in hair after bleaching

Bleaching changes more than colour. The hair surface becomes more open and uneven, so each strand loses moisture faster and holds smoothness less well. Hence the typical feel: straw-like lengths, dry ends, tangling after washing and a reaction to humidity.

Cosmetic care does not “repair” hair permanently — honestly, no product does. But the right care helps bring back softness, smoothness, easy detangling and a cared-for look, and keeps the lengths in good shape between salon visits.

Signs your lengths need richer care

If two or three of these sound familiar, bleached hair will most likely suit the rich Reconstruction PRO system.

  • hair feels dry and rough even right after balsam;
  • lengths frizz and tangle;
  • combing has become harder and hair breaks;
  • after regular bleaching or colouring the lengths feel weaker and less elastic;
  • ends look dull and dry.

Which mask to choose

BioHydra Therapy — when dryness is moderate and lengths lack softness and elasticity: hydration, softness, elasticity, 1–2 times in 7 days.

Lipid & Protein Therapy — when dryness is pronounced and hair is porous, bleached or breaking: richer care for damaged lengths, once every 7–10 days.

For most bleached hair the base mask is Lipid & Protein Therapy. One wash, one mask: don’t use both at once.

Habits that protect bleached hair

  • warm, not hot water — hot water dries the lengths further;
  • don’t rub hair with a towel — gently squeeze or blot;
  • comb from the ends up once balsam is on or the hair is slightly dry;
  • heat protection every time, even for a “quick” blow-dry;
  • don’t go to bed with wet hair — it is most vulnerable when wet;
  • don’t overdo the mask: using a rich mask too often can weigh lengths down.

Step by step

  1. 01Shampoo on the scalp, not the lengths. Reconstruction PRO Shampoo cleanses the scalp and roots and prepares the lengths for the next steps; don’t rub the lengths — the foam rinsing through is enough.
  2. 02Mask once every 7–10 days: on towel-squeezed lengths, starting mid-length, for 5–10 minutes.
  3. 03Balsam after every wash: Reconstruction PRO Balsam for 2–3 minutes softens, smooths and eases detangling.
  4. 04Heat protection before a dryer, curler or straightener: Active Thermo Cream on damp lengths.
  5. 05Oil only after hair is fully dry: one drop of Argan Elixir Oil warmed between palms, on dry lengths and ends.

Common misconceptions

  • Balsam can go on the scalp — no, it is for lengths and ends, starting mid-length.
  • A mask replaces balsam — no, balsam is still needed after a mask.
  • Oil replaces heat protection — no, oil is the finishing step after drying.
  • Products should change every week — bleached hair does best with a steady system.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I wash bleached hair?
As often as your scalp needs. How you wash matters more than how often: shampoo on the scalp, lengths protected with balsam after every wash.
Can I use a mask after every wash?
With the rich Lipid & Protein Therapy mask, keep to once every 7–10 days so the lengths aren’t weighed down. BioHydra Therapy can be used 1–2 times a week.
What if my hair is fine and gets weighed down quickly?
Then Reconstruction PRO may be too rich a base. Intensive Care can be more comfortable, with a mask for the lengths when needed. The easiest way is the personal match.
What if my scalp is also sensitive?
Then the priority is the gentle Soft Care system for the scalp, and the bleached lengths can be supported with Lipid & Protein Therapy.
