32Choosing care

How to choose a shampoo for your hair type

A shampoo is chosen first for the scalp, not the lengths — that is the most common mistake. Here is how a few signs tell you what cleansing you need, and how to pick an ORO system so that shampoo and balsam work together.

Step 1. Assess your scalp

  • Sensitive: tightness or discomfort after washing, doesn’t tolerate intensive cleansing → the gentlest cleansing.
  • Normal, or roots lose freshness fast: you wash daily or every other day → balanced daily cleansing that doesn’t weigh hair down.
  • Itching, dandruff, redness, noticeable shedding → first see a trichologist or dermatologist.

Step 2. Assess the lengths

  • Fine, easily weighed down → light care.
  • Dry, porous, bleached, often coloured, breaking → rich care and a mask.
  • Normal, without pronounced damage → base care and a mask when needed.

Step 3. Choose an ORO system

  • Soft Care — for a sensitive scalp and gentle daily care: a sulfate-free shampoo with a prebiotic complex, niacinamide and panthenol and a balsam with plant proteins and jojoba oil. Suitable for daily use.
  • Intensive Care — for normal and fine hair and daily hydration: a shampoo with hyaluronic acid and fruit extracts and a light balsam with argan oil. Suitable for daily use.
  • Reconstruction PRO — for damaged and brittle hair: shampoo and balsam with a complex of 5 proteins and murumuru butter, 2–3 times a week. With daily washing, use the shampoo as needed and the lighter Intensive Care Balsam on other washes.

Step 4. Add what’s needed

  • BioHydra Therapy — 1–2 times a week when the lengths lack moisture;
  • Lipid & Protein Therapy — once every 7–10 days for pronounced dryness, porosity, bleaching;
  • Active Thermo Cream — before a hairdryer or hot tools;
  • Argan Elixir Oil — a few drops on dry lengths to finish.

Step by step

  1. 01Identify your scalp condition.
  2. 02Assess the lengths: fine, normal, dry or damaged.
  3. 03Choose shampoo and balsam from one system.
  4. 04Add a mask and leave-ins when needed.
  5. 05Follow the frequency on the label.
  6. 06Judge the result after 3–4 weeks and adjust if needed.

Common misconceptions

  • “Shampoo is chosen by the lengths” — mainly by the scalp; balsam and mask look after the lengths.
  • “You must switch shampoo because hair gets used to it” — hair doesn’t “get used to it”; change care when your hair’s condition changes.
  • “Oily roots need the strongest shampoo” — harsh cleansing often backfires.
  • “Shampoo and balsam from different lines at random are fine” — in a system they are designed to work together.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which shampoo suits me?
Start with the scalp: sensitive needs gentle cleansing, roots that get oily fast need balanced daily cleansing. Then assess the lengths and choose balsam and mask. The most accurate way is the personal match.
Can I mix shampoo and balsam from different systems?
It’s better to use shampoo and balsam from one system. The exception: with daily washing and Reconstruction PRO, we recommend the lighter Intensive Care Balsam on other days.
Should I switch shampoo so hair doesn’t get used to it?
No, hair doesn’t “get used to it”. Change care when your hair’s condition changes — after colouring, bleaching or a change of season.
Which ORO system suits fine hair?
Intensive Care: balanced daily cleansing and a light balsam that doesn’t weigh hair down.
