Frizzy hair: how to reduce frizz

Frizz is when hair doesn’t lie smooth, lifts above the lengths and puffs up after drying or in humid weather. Usually it comes from dryness, porosity and heat. Here is how care and the right drying make hair smoother.

Why hair frizzes

  • Dryness and porosity: a rough strand surface doesn’t lie flat, and strands don’t stay together.
  • Humid weather: porous lengths quickly absorb moisture from the air and change shape.
  • Heat without protection: a hot hairdryer and straightener dry out the lengths.
  • Friction: rubbing with a towel, brushing dry hair, a cotton pillowcase.
  • Natural texture: wavy and curly hair frizzes more easily — we have a separate article for curls.

Which care to choose

  • Mild frizz, lacking softness — the BioHydra Therapy mask 1–2 times in 7 days.
  • Strong frizz, dry, porous, bleached hair — the Reconstruction PRO system and the Lipid & Protein Therapy mask once every 7–10 days; BioHydra in between.
  • Before every blow-dry — Active Thermo Cream: its light texture helps reduce frizz and supports a smooth finish.
  • After drying — Argan Elixir Oil: one drop on dry lengths and ends.

How to dry without frizz

  • squeeze out water with a soft towel, without rubbing;
  • apply heat protection to damp lengths;
  • point the airflow from top to bottom, roots to ends;
  • dry on moderate heat and dry fully — half-damp hair frizzes;
  • for a smooth finish — a round brush or cool air at the end.

Step by step

  1. 01Shampoo on the scalp; don’t rub the lengths.
  2. 02Mask when needed: BioHydra or Lipid & Protein — in different washes.
  3. 03Your system’s balsam for 2–3 minutes; detangle with a wide-tooth comb.
  4. 04Squeeze hair with a towel without rubbing.
  5. 05Active Thermo Cream on damp lengths, about 5 cm from the roots.
  6. 06Dry from top to bottom on moderate heat.
  7. 07One drop of Argan Elixir Oil on dry lengths.

Common misconceptions

  • “Only smoothing treatments remove frizz” — regular care and the right drying make hair noticeably smoother.
  • “More oil, less frizz” — excess weighs hair down and makes it look greasy.
  • “Better not to blow-dry” — with heat protection and moderate heat, a hairdryer helps achieve a smooth finish.
  • “A mask is enough for frizzy hair” — balsam is still needed after the mask.

Frequently asked questions

Why does hair frizz after washing?
Most often because of dry or porous lengths, towel rubbing and drying without heat protection. Balsam, a mask and the right drying help.
How do I reduce frizz at home?
Balsam after every wash, a mask 1–2 times a week, Active Thermo Cream before blow-drying, drying from top to bottom and a drop of oil on dry lengths.
Why does hair frizz in humid weather?
Porous lengths absorb moisture from the air and change shape. Regular care makes the surface smoother, so hair reacts less to humidity.
Which mask helps with frizz?
For mild frizz — BioHydra Therapy; for strong frizz and porous lengths — Lipid & Protein Therapy once every 7–10 days, alternating with BioHydra.
